A Powys leisure centre will open its doors later this month for a special event to celebrate its 30th year of operation.
On Saturday, March 25 and Sunday, March 26, Rhayader Leisure Centre will hold an open weekend to celebrate its 30th birthday milestone.
With free fitness classes, free swimming lessons, face painting and a bouncy castle, there really is something for everyone.
Theresa Lloyd, operations manager for Rhayader Leisure Centre said: “I have been operations manager here now for just over a year. It’s been great to get to know the customers - many who have used the centre over the last 30 years.
“The centre is a hub of activity and is well loved by the community from babies to seniors.”
Being at the heart of the local community is key to the longevity and Cheryl Lloyd, who has worked at the centre since its opening, said: “I started working at the leisure centre back when it opened in 1993.
“I was initially a receptionist and lifeguard, and went on to become a duty manager, and an RLSS trainer assessor.
“It wasn’t long after I went on to become a swimming teacher - and the rest is history. I am now enjoying teaching children of children I have taught!”
If you remember the opening or have special memories of growing up using the centre please let the centre know, any photos, videos and memories you could share would be very much appreciated.
As well as these free activities, Rhayader Leisure Centre will have membership promotions available exclusively for the weekend.
