On Saturday, July 13, Llandrindod Repair Cafe celebrated its 10th anniversary.
Home-baked cakes were enjoyed by all who attended the celebratory event.
Starting under the Canopy at the Rock Park in July 2014, Llandrindod Repair Cafe is the longest-running Repair Cafe in Wales. After a few years it moved to Celf a Gwmpas on Tremont Road where it has been ever since, with a break during the Covid pandemic.
The Repair Cafe offers free repairs for all kinds of small household goods, including electrical goods, toys, small furniture and tool sharpening. It is open on the second Saturday afternoon of every month from February to November, and comes under the umbrella of Llandrindod Transition.
During the last 10 years, approximately 1,800 items have been repaired, and the Cafe's volunteer fixers are expecting to reach a magnificent 2,000 successful repairs very soon. Many of the items that have been repaired at the Cafe would likely otherwise have ended up in landfill.
The Cafe is run entirely by volunteers, with a wide range of skills, and is financed by donations from visitors.
The next free repair session will take place at the Celf o Gwmpas Centre on Saturday, August 10 from 1pm to 4pm. Everybody is welcome to attend.
