For the first time, the Repair Cafe in Llandrindod Wells will stay open over the winter months this year.
Following consultation with the Repair Cafe's fixers and other volunteers, it was agreed to discontinue the cafe's usual two-month winter closure.
Free repair events will now be open on the second Saturday of the month all year round, until further notice.
This means visitors can continue to bring their faulty household goods for repair on December 14, January 11 and February 8, at the usual time from 2pm till 5pm at the Celf Centre on Tremont Road in Llandrindod.
Repair Cafe volunteer Martina Holmes said: "Come and support your local Repair Cafe and give our skilled volunteer repairers plenty of your faulty household items to fix during our winter opening hours.
“They like a challenge and will try to help you repair any broken things you might otherwise throw away, including small electrical items.”
“Free refreshments are available, but donations are much appreciated to cover costs and keep the Repair Cafe running,” she added.
If you can spare a few hours once a month and have some fixing skills, such as sewing, small electricals, small bits of furniture, jewellery, basic bike repairs, or you're a general tinkerer - why not volunteer? Can't fix? - the Cafe needs admin and reception volunteers too.
Find them on Facebook or just turn up on the day.
