On Wednesday, July 31, 40 pairs of ladies from all over Wales played the R & A Coronation Foursomes Area Final at Cradoc Golf Club.

The clubhouse was buzzing with excitement and the course was looking magnificent and with beautiful sunshine - even if a little too hot for golf.

The scene was set for an enjoyable and exciting competition.

The whole day was very successful with the club receiving many compliments regarding the beautiful and well maintained course - thank you to John Bevan and his team.

The hospitality team were busy and successful.

A huge thank you must go to the Ladies Captain Andy Black for her organisation of the event and involving so many members in all sorts of different roles - such as welcomers, ball spotters and starters. Justine Blunsdon, with an array of ladies clothing on display, brought even more interest with many ladies eager to add to their golf wardrobe.

It was a very exciting and enjoyable day with some excellent golf being played.

The Cradoc pair of Kathy Dobbs and Jan Watkins went out first with two players from Derllys Court Golf Club in Carmarthen. The course was tough as conditions varied and the pin positions were challenging, while the humidity also played its part. Despite the pressure affecting them in the early part of the round the Cradoc Ladies settled down and set a very good target of 35 points. This proved to be a challenging score to beat but the final results were:

3rd - Cradoc Ladies - 35 points.

2nd - Creigiau Ladies - 36 points

1st - Llandrindod Wells Ladies – 37 points and the winners of the Coronation Foursomes.

Congratulations to the Llandrindod Team and well done Cradoc Ladies for running them so close.
