Lloyds Bank has announced the forthcoming closure of its Presteigne branch.

The Hereford Street branch is set to close on March 3, 2025.

Lloyds will also be removing its cashpoint from the area, meaning that the nearest place to withdraw money for Presteigne residents would then be in Knighton or Kington.

In an online document informing the public of their decision to close branches, Lloyds said: “Before we close any branch, we look at how our customers are managing their money and using the branch. Most customers are now using our Mobile Banking app, Internet Banking or calling us instead. This means they are using branches, including our Presteigne branch much less. Because of this, we'll be closing our Presteigne branch.

“After the branch closes, our Community Banker will be available to support you in the local area one day a week. We'll update our website with details of the days and times they will visit, nearer to the branch closure date.”

Following the closure, the nearest Lloyds branch will be some 15 miles away Leominster, with another branch remaining open in Ludlow.

Lloyds has also said that the Post Office in Presteigne will offer “everyday banking”, but said “some restrictions may apply.”
