A man died in a crash which closed the A470 on Monday evening, Dyfed-Powys Police has confirmed.
The 35-year-old man who was from the Aberdare area but who has yet to be named was the driver of Skoda Octavia car that was in a collision on the A470 involving a heavy goods vehicle and another car, a Volvo V60.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and the male driver of the Volvo suffered "serious injuries" according to police.
The A470 was closed until 4am on Tuesday morning following the crash that occurred on the A470 between Brecon and Merthyr Tydfil, close to the Hirwaun junction at around 5.30pm on Monday, October 2. The A4059 to Hirwaun was also closed.
A spokeswoman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: "The collision involved a a Skoda Octavia, a Volvo V60 and a HGV.
"The male driver of the Skoda was pronounced dead at the scene. The male driver of the Volvo was taken to hospital with serious injuries."
Police are appealing for witness, including anyone with dash cam footage of the scene or the route, to contact them Dyfed-Powys Police on 101.
