FOLLOWING our story in the September 22 issue of the B&R in which we revealed that Network Rail have plans in place to construct 25 communications masts along the Heart of Wales line including 15 located between Llanwrtyd Wells and Knighton, worried residents in the village of Garth near Builth Wells are to have their say next week (Monday, October 17) at a public meeting called by Garth community council.
Two masts (up to 20 metres high) have been earmarked for the Llandrindod Wells area, at Penybont and Ashfield, two 25m masts at the Witterleys and Knighton station and three for Garth, Builth Road and Cilmeri, with 2,200 in total planned across the country by Network Rail to improve communications between drivers and signallers and reduce the risk of serious accidents.
