140 local Brecon people took part in a charity football match organised by Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service recently.

The group raised an incredible £2,770 for The Fire Fighters Charity.

The winning trophy was bought by The Sarah Siddons in memory of Dai Carno, and his wife Doreen presented the Dai Carno Cup to the winners.

14 teams from the community took part, including Brecon FC, Tom Watts construction, Brecon Fire Station and Thursday Veterans.

Speaking to the Brecon and Radnor Express, firefighter Carl Williams said: “I am a serving Watch Manager in Mid & West Wales Fire & Rescue Service. We had around 150 supporters watching.”

It’s an annual event, with this being the second year it has run.
