Pupils from a special school in Brecon will be able experience a range of learning opportunities in the wider community after a golfing charity donated a new minibus.
Ysgol Penmaes has received the brand new minibus from Variety Golf.
Variety Golf comprises of a group of charitably minded golfers who make it their business – and pleasure – to play competitive golf at some of the most beautiful golf courses in the UK, while raising funds to help less fortunate children.
Ex-Manchester United player Steve Coppell, who was instrumental in the donation, presented the minibus on behalf of Variety Golf and met with learners and staff at the school.
Angharad Bryn-Jones, Headteacher at Ysgol Penmaes, said: “We are absolutely thrilled with our new minibus. On behalf of everyone in our school community, I would like to thank Steve Coppell and Variety Golf for this fabulous donation.
“Having a new minibus means that our learners get to experience a range of opportunities in the local and wider community which is important to us as a school.
“It also means that the learners at the Penmaes satellite provision in Crossgates are able to have access to a bus in order to be able to travel back and forth to use the facilities at Penmaes, in turn promoting inclusivity.”
