Brecon Rotary Club has welcomed its new President for the coming year.
At the final meeting of the current Rotary year, Carol Herbert took over as President for the 2023-24 year, which begun on July 1.
At the handover night, the presidential chain was passed to Carol from outgoing President Catherine Quarrell. Hayley Ridge-Evans becomes President-elect. This is the first time in the Club’s history that three women have held the leadership roles in succession.
Catherine Quarrell said that she had thoroughly enjoyed the privilege of being the club’s president over the last 12 months and plans to continue to support the club with the same degree of enthusiasm and dedication.
She was also pleased to be able to recognise three fellow Rotarians - Nick Morrell, Brian Newman, and Peter Jenkins - for their support and commitment to the club with a Paul Harris Fellowship award.

Ms Quarrell said: “Without the devotion of members to key roles in the club, we will not be able to continue to thrive and these three have proved to us all that they are dedicated to the success and future of the club.”
During her year as Club President, Ms Herbert, the club’s fourth female president, aims to inspire the next generation of Rotarians, be an advocate for women in Rotary and provide practical as well as financial support to the community - with a focus on providing intergenerational opportunities.
