Members of the armed force’s community joined with Team Brecon volunteers to clean-up the town’s bus station.
Soldiers from the Ifantry Battle School, based in Brecon, joined the voluntary group on Sunday, September 5 armed with garden tools and brushes.
Sergeant Richard Vout and Warrant Office Class 2 Yaakthung Angbuhamg said: “We want to support the Brecon community and many of the families at Derring Lines use this bus station so we want to play a part in keeping it clean and welcoming.”
The volunteers and members of the armed forces worked hard to clean the pavements throughout teh bus station, removing unsightly wees and slippery moss.
Town councillor Liz Rijnenberg said: “I am really grateful to the members of the Armed Forces who joined our bus station clean up and it’s fantastic to see them working alongside our volunteers to improve the town for residents and visitors.
“We are proud of our relationship with the Armed Forces in Brecon and we appreciate the support they give to our community.”
The Team Brecon volunteers, who were joined by Brecon town councillors Liz Rijnenberg of St Mary Ward and Matthew Dorrance of St John Ward, also freshened up the flower beds and planters.
Cllr Dorrance added: “This year, Team Brecon has worked to make our town cleaner and greener with street cleaning days and gardening projects.
“It has been lovely to hear the positive feedback from residents and visitors about the impact our work is having, and we want to thank everyone who supports us.”
After another successful year for Team Brecon, the volunteers are already making plans for next year to help make the town an even better place to live, work and visit.
