The Old Railway Line Garden Centre has raised almost £1,000 for a local charity with a night of bingo-themed fun.

On Thursday, June 27, the independent, family-owned garden centre in Three Cocks hosted one of their ever-popular bingo nights.

The night was in aid of Hay & District Dial-A-Ride.

A total of £952 was raised for the charity - which is this year celebrating its 30th anniversary.

Hay & District Dial-A-Ride is a vital community service with a mission to help customers maintain an independent lifestyle, reduce loneliness and social/rural isolation, and enable residents to feel part of a thriving community. They provide more than just transport services; they offer access to health and community services, which are essential for physical and mental health and well-being.

Matthew Lewis, events manager at the Old Railway Line, said: "We are incredibly proud to support such a wonderful local charity as part of their 30th anniversary celebrations. The turnout for our bingo night was fantastic, and it's heartwarming to see our community come together for a great cause. Hay & District Dial-A-Ride plays a crucial role in our community, and we are delighted to contribute to their mission."

He added: “We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to this wonderful cause through turning up to our event and taking part in our half-time raffle. We hope you had a fun evening of homemade food and exciting bingo games. Congratulations to all winners who collectively claimed £210 worth of cash and voucher prizes!”

The bingo night event drew participants from all over the community, who together enjoyed an evening of delicious home-cooked Mexican-themed food from the restaurant, fun, prizes, and a shared commitment to supporting local initiatives.

The funds raised will go directly to Hay & District Dial-A-Ride, assisting them in continuing their essential services for residents in the area.
