THE 81st Pantydwr and District Show was opened this year by Rob and Anne Evans who paid tribute to the local community for keeping the show going over the years.

They were presented with a bouquet of flowers afterwards by the show chairman Hayley Davies.

Despite the heavy rain showers and the cold chill during the afternoon everybody seemed to enjoy the event which attracted large crowds.

There were also large entries in the sheep and horse classes.

The day included a horse and pony section, sheep classes, and a sheep shearing competition. There was also a dog show and a craft and produce section together with a baby and dress show, a tug of war competition, face painting, children’s sports, a trailer competition and a penalty shoot out as well as a falconry display. In all it proved a day to catch up with friends and an opportunity to have a chat over a cup of tea in the refreshment tent and a fun day for all the family.

The celebrations went on to the Sunday afternoon with singing by Sam Williams as well as pig racing, a BBQ and licenced bar, a bouncy castle and slide as well as many children’s events on the field.
