Now that the General Election has been called, Labour candidate for Brecon, Radnor and Cwm Tawe Matthew Dorrance has said he is relishing the chance to promote Labour's positive message on doorsteps across the new constituency.

He has said that after 14 years under a Conservative government, it is time for change and the election of a Labour government with a long term plan to change Britain.

He said that Labour's missions for government include getting the economy growing, unlocking Wales' green energy potential, modernising our NHS, making our streets safe and breaking down barriers to opportunity.

Mr Dorrance has also highlighted a series of polls which show the choice is between Labour and Tory for this new constituency, which takes in a large part of the former Neath parliamentary constituency in South Wales.

Matthew Dorrance said: "I am so excited to be contesting this election as the first ever Labour candidate for the brand new constituency of Brecon, Radnor and Cwm Tawe.

"UK Polling Report, Electoral Calculus and Best for Britain are all forecasting a close race between Labour and the Tories for this new seat, with Liberal Democrats and other parties just out of the running.

"So the choice is clear, between a hardworking local Labour candidate who was born and brought up in the constituency or a member of Rishi Sunak's failing government, which has seen energy costs and mortgage bills rocket and living standards plummet.

"As Labour MP, I will work to tackle the cost of living crisis and support residents, our communities and businesses, and be a strong local voice campaigning for investment and local services.

"I've campaigned across the new constituency, from Pontardawe to Knighton, and people I talk to are desperate for change.

"I am urging local residents to join with me in turning the page and rebuilding our country, by electing me as Labour MP so we can play our part in electing the UK Labour Government our country needs".
