Multiple generations came out in force last week to cheer on and enjoy the spectacle of the Pontfaen YFC Illuminated Tractor and 4x4 Run.

Hundreds of people lined the route on Wednesday evening to see a fleet of tractors donned in Christmas lights travel through Merthyr Cynog, Upper Chapel, Pontfaen, Cradoc, Pwllgloyw, Groesffordd and Brecon, as the festive season was well and truly brought into town.

The impressive turnout is testament to the hard work put in by organisers, sponsors and the wider community.

The event raised money for Wales Air Ambulance and The DPJ Foundation, the mental health farming charity.

The current total stands at £5,000 - and counting.

Dan Lydiate awarded the best dressed tractor to Liam Powell for his incredible illuminated tractor, together with an inflatable Father Christmas on the front, cutting through the darkness like its own Spirit of Ecstasy.

The run has since been hailed as “one of the best events ever” by a Brecon resident.

Hundreds of spectators lined the streets to cheer on the event last week, which is now in its second year.

Pontfaen YFC have thanked McCartneys LLP for allowing the run to start at Brecon Livestock Market.

At the market, Raiff Devlin welcomed Mr Gethin Havard, Brecknock YFC County President, who introduced the judge Dan Lydiate, Welsh rugby international and mid Wales farmer.

Dan had the incredibly difficult task of choosing a winner among an array of fantastically decorated vehicles.

Each tractor was adorned with intricate light displays, ranging from colourful geometric patterns to elaborate scenes depicting holiday traditions.

As Dan walked down the line of tractors, he marvelled at the creativity and hard work put into each one.

It was a tough decision, but after much consideration, Dan ultimately awarded the top prize to Liam Powell.

The crowd cheered as the proud owner of the winning tractor was presented with the cup by Dan and vouchers donated by Wynnstay.

It was a truly memorable evening with the best decorated 4x4 going to Llywela Lewis.

The best dressed driver and passenger was won by Gerwyn Rees and Ann Davies, winning items donated by the DPJ Foundation.

The tractor run was a resounding success this year thanks to the hard work and dedication of the tractor drivers who participated.

These dedicated individuals spent countless hours decorating their tractors with light displays, turning the tractors into works of art. The tractors were a sight to behold as they paraded through Brecon and the surrounding areas.

The drivers should be commended for their efforts, which helped to create a festive and memorable atmosphere for all who attended.

The success of the tractor run is a testament to the passion and creativity of these dedicated individuals.
