The streets of Presteigne will be buzzing with a multitude of creative arts events on May 11 and 12, as the Presteigne Festival presents its very first ‘Springboard’ weekend.
The initiative will celebrate the approach of summer with something for everyone – talks, concerts,walks, film, art and even Broad Street’s very own Brocante market.
Contributors include writer and broadcaster Ian Marchant, Dutch violinist Emma Roijackers, Dr Toby Driver (author of The Hillforts of Iron AgeWales), local shanty band ‘The Press Gangers’, harpist Heather Brooks, Radnorshire Wildlife Trust, Sue Harris with Whitton Voices and writer and poet Nicholas Murray in conversation with Artistic Director, George Vass.
There is a film exploring Gustav Klimt’s stunning painting The Kiss and an art exhibition and sale, ‘Art in the Yard’, hosted by Ruth Kirkby and Penny Hughes in Daphne’s Yard on both days from 10am to 4pm.
On Saturday, Presteigne’s lively town centre will be supplemented with the Broad Street Brocante from 9:30am to 2:30pm, whilst the library will provide live harp music.
Violinist Emma Roijackers performs stunning solo repertoire by J S Bach, Telemann, Prokofiev and Kreisler on Saturday evening, and is joined by prize-winning harpist Heather Brooks on Sunday afternoon for a programme of popular arrangements.
