Sixteen-year-old Rachel Rees of Pontfaen YFC has been named the Brecknock YFC Junior Member of the Year.
Rachel was awarded the accolade at a special event held at the Royal Welsh Showground last weekend.
Rachel is a pupil at Ysgol Calon Cymru, Builth Wells, and studies AS Levels in Chemistry, Biology, Health & Social Care and the Welsh Baccalaureate. She has recently gained her Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award,
In her spare time, Rachel helps on the family farm, and she hopes to study Veterinary Physiotherapy at Harper Adams University in the future.
Rachel is a very active member of Pontfaen YFC where she is currently Club Vice Chairman. During the past year, she has helped the club raise more than £6000 at a number of events including the Illuminated Charity Tractor & 4 x 4 Run, Sunday lunch and concert.
Rachel is always willing to help out at county events, whether speaking at the County AGM or taking part in the county concert or Festival of Cheer. She has also helped to arrange club trips to Cardiff to watch the Devils and Wales play Argentina in rugby, to London to visit Harry Potter World and watch Frozen the Musical.
Rachel is always willing to take part in different competitions including Dancing, Singing, Cooking, Have a go, Drama and Entertainment. She recently came third in Junior Drama and Senior One Plus at the Drama Festival. In July, she was part of the Show Choir which came second at the National Final.
Rachel will now represent Brecknock in the Wales YFC final this weekend in Bangor and the club wishes her the best of luck.
