Reading Male Voice Choir started their tour of Powys by giving a free lunchtime concert in Brecon Cathedral on Friday, April 26.
The acoustic in the cathedral were superb for the choice of music, which included Ave Maria and Schubert’s Sanctus and the large audience thoroughly enjoyed the performance.
Their main gala concert was then at The Pavilion in Llandrindod Wells on the evening of Saturday, April 27 where Reading MVC sang a very accomplished and varied programme of male voice singing.
Builth Male Voice Choir, as the hosting choir, also took part in the concert with Luned Jones having to step in as musical director at the last moment. Both choirs combined in the second half to sing three songs, including Speed Your Journey and Morte Criste.
The audience was impressed by their combined voices.
Supporting the choirs was Megan Reece, the talented Mid Wales based singer and songwriter. With soul, jazz and blues influences, her performance gave a beautiful contrast to the choral singing. Proceeds of the concert will be donated to The Bracken Trust charity which supports anyone affected by cancer.
On the Sunday morning the choir wrapped on their Powys tour by singing in St Mary’s Church in Builth Wells, performing several songs and boosting the congregation.
