It will take more than a drop of rain to stop enduro riders and there was plenty of it for Rhayader Motor Club’s annual Simon Rees Memorial Hare ‘n Hounds.

The event was held at the Cwmythig Hill circuit.

Best in the championship class was Rhayader’s Alex Walton who was followed home by best expert Endaf Hughes from Trefeglwys, with Rhys Newman in third. Rhayader’s Adam James was runner-up in the championship class. All managed 14 laps in the sticky conditions.

Gruff Morgan had an excellent ride, managing 13 laps to win the youth section, two laps better than the under 19 winner Hue Gittin.

The girls found it a challenging course but Caio’s Delun Davies still managed 10 laps, followed home by Llandrindod’s Chloe Price.

A large sportsman entry was headed by Celt Davies with Tom Groves second, with credit to the riders - many in the class found it difficult by there was still a 90 per cent finishing rate.

The winner of the Simon Rees Memorial Cup for the best local sportsman went to his cousin Stephen Rees - quite an achievement in your first event.
