The winners of the latest Brecon rugby raffle, organised by Butch and Lorna Keylock, have been announced.
Held during the autumn international period, the raffle supported the Brecon and Sennybridge branch of Cancer Research Wales.
The Fiji shirt was won by Will Thompson, with Terry Otterwell as runner-up. John Coulthard claimed the Australia shirt, with Diane Dunne taking second place. Rhodri Jones won the South Africa shirt, with Malcolm Padmore as runner-up. While Rhodri couldn’t attend the presentation, a family member accepted on his behalf.
Butch reflected on Rhodri’s connection to local rugby: "The Jones family has played a big part in local rugby. His late father and uncle were prominent in Brecon fixtures alongside many young men from Sennybridge in the past. This event shows Brecon and Sennybridge coming together, as the ladies do for this charity."
Despite challenging weather on some selling days, an impressive £1,440 was raised over three matchday weekends. Butch extended special thanks to Steve for assisting with the setup.
Sharing his optimism for Welsh rugby, Butch added: "We may be down, but we’re not out. The Six Nations is ahead, and if you’re not in it, you can’t win it. Thank you for supporting Cancer Research Wales – it means the world."
The Keylocks have been raffling rugby jerseys ahead of every Wales game in the Six Nations Championship for more than 20 years to support Cancer Research Wales.
They raise thousands of pounds each year for the Brecon and Sennybridge branch of the charity and have raised more than £500,000 over their lifetime.
Cancer Research Wales is dedicated to transforming the lives of cancer patients across Wales. The charity is committed to reducing the impact of cancer and improving the unacceptable survival rates across the country.
