LIBANUS Show enjoyed a wonderful day of competitions and friendship recently.
As usual the entries in the homecraft, horticulture and children’s sections were outstanding, being matched in the field by a fine show of sheep, ponies and dogs.
In the sheepdog trials Angie Driscoll took home both open titles with her dogs Pipi and Mazi. A new sheep section for Herdwicks was well supported with D & M Davies winning the Pengarn Tankard which was kindly donated by the judge Jean Morgan and Ken Flye.
New competitors across all areas were not disappointed with their first showing experience – taking home the winners’ cups in the dog and horse show.
However, it was difficult, even impossible, to beat some long-term exhibitors – horticulture cups were shared between David Quarrell and Ivor Davies; Eileen Jones just missed out on a clean sweep of the Domestic silverware, Fiona Morgan taking one of the four cups.
Lexi Phillips, Lilwen Banning and Shauna Evans shared the cups in the children’s classes – congratulations to all of them. The challenges of running an event like this are significant, however with the help of an excellent team of stewards, judges, caterers and general helpers it can be both great fun and wonderful for the community and visitors alike.
