A large portion of Brecon and Radnorshire has been issued with a weather warning for snow and ice tomorrow.

The yellow warning comes into place from midnight tonight and runs for 12 hours until midday tomorrow (Wednesday).

Llandrindod Wells, Builth Wells, Llanwrtyd Wells and Rhayader are included in the warning area, as is Llandovery in Carmarthenshire.

Brecon is on the very edge of the warning area.

The Met Office said: “Snow showers will develop during Tuesday night and through Wednesday morning. Some lying snow is likely with 1-2 cm in places and a risk of up to 5 cm over higher ground. Ice will readily form on untreated surfaces.”

The forecaster has warned:

• Some roads and railways likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services

• Probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths

• Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces
