A Brecon pub has been recognised as one of the best pubs in the whole of Great Britain.
The Hop In Beer and Gin House has been included in CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide for 2023, making it one of the best pubs in the nation.
CAMRA considers the pubs based on certain criteria, namely, beer quality and the pubs’ support for “real ale” as defined by the organisation, while factors such as ambience, service offering and value for money are also taken into account.
Dave Wise, branch chair for Brecknockshire Camra said: “I’m very pleased that our members have included the Hop In this time around, since it was established at a particularly difficult time (shortly pre-Covid), hardly the most auspicious start.
“Despite this and the difficulties of the last two and a half years, it has established an excellent reputation for its beer, food, and gin which is thoroughly deserved and I’m delighted that this has been recognised by our members.”
The Hop In Beer and Gin house is one of only 11 pubs across the whole of mid Wales to be included in the guide, highlighting the great success it has achieved in such a short period of time.
This year also marked the 50th publication of CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide, with the inaugural iteration being released in 1974.
