The community of Talgarth is being called upon once again to actively participate in shaping the future of their town as part of a comprehensive consultation process.
The aim of the new consultation is to create a ‘Placemaking Plan’ that will guide investment and attract funding into Talgarth town centre for the next five years and beyond.
Following an extensive initial stakeholder consultation period, including numerous local organisations, Powys County Council, the Town Council, and Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Auhthority, a Summary Placemaking Plan has been created. This plan features a series of innovative ideas aimed at revitalising the town centre and enhancing the overall quality of life in Talgarth.
Now, the community is invited to provide further input and feedback to refine and finalise this plan.
The ideas presented in the Summary Placemaking Plan are designed with the overarching goals of boosting the local economy, increasing footfall, improving the vitality of the town, enhancing local facilities and infrastructure, and creating greener community spaces in the heart of the town. It follows the recent opening of the Co-op store in its new location adjacent to Talgarth Livestock Market and Ysgol y Mynydd Du.
Commenting on the Placemaking Plan consultation, Cllr William Powel (Talgarth), said: “I would urge all Talgarth residents and others who work, shop or study locally to come along to the consultation event and have their say. This is our opportunity to shape the future of the town centre, as well as helping to secure vital investment.
“Talgarth Town Council and other key stakeholders have worked hard on this – now is the opportunity for everyone to contribute to the plan for the place we call home.£
The feedback received from the community will play a pivotal role in shaping the final plan. To provide the Talgarth community with the opportunity to engage with the proposed ideas and offer their valuable input, a drop-in session will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2023 between 2pm and 7pm at the Town Hall, Talgarth.
Additionally, an online platform has been established to enable residents to view the Summary Placemaking Plan and submit their comments and feedback. The consultation period will remain open until November 2, 2023.
