THE Felin Fach community is still busy fundraising and developing its plans to build a play park for the children and families of the village.

The next fundraising event will be a duck race at 2pm on Sunday, July 10, at the Griffin Inn. Following the duck race, there will be a family fun afternoon and live music. The money raised from this will be split between Felinfach Show Committee, the play park group, and Talachddu church. Fun days at Esme’s will be supporting this event.

Felin Fach play park group has been making progress since it raised £520 through a crowd-funding website.

It has had consultations with two play equipment companies who have designed and quoted the project so far. Aled Falvey, committee secretary, said: "Steve Butcher from Powys County Council, who is responsible for play facilities in Powys, has visited our site and offered excellent advice and support. Following advice from him and the other companies we have decided to do a phased project."

Phase one will include a two bay set of swings and an inclusive swing. The group aims to have this phase completed by the end of the year.

Members of the group have thanked everyone who donated to the crowd-funding page. Many of the donations came from local friends and family but contributions came from as far away as Singapore and San Francisco.

Future events include fund raising games and a tombola at the Felinfach show in August. The Plough and Harrow pub has also offered to hold a race night in aid of the play park project.

Aled said: "With such fantastic support from the community and the local councils, we feel on course to deliver the play park facilities that the children of Felin Fach are crying out for. The play park committee would like to thank everyone who has contributed so far and we are grateful for their continued support."
