There was a great turnout at the first Felindre Village Harvest auction since the Covid lockdowns, with almost 150 lots sold during the event.

Everyone in the village had been looking forward to the action after it was delayed by almost three years.

The event, held in Felindre Village Hall, started by remembering local charity hero Ferret and the many amazing things he had donated over the years with a round of applause for him and his wife Pam.

Felindre auction
Lots were sold thick and fast by auctioneer Johnny (Felindre Village Hall Committee)

The hall was alive with over 70 people in attendance and plenty of great lots.

After as many as 146 lots had been sold, an incredible £2360 for Macmillan Cancer Support Research and the Village Hall had been raised.

This was aided by the traditional jar of Ferret’s pickles, which sold for a staggering £80 - about £3 per pickle!

Deputy chair of Village Hall Committee Mic Rafferty said: “Thank you to all the organisers, including Margaret, Peter, Vicky, Glenn and so many more.

“Finally, a huge thank you to Johnny, our auctioneer, and his helpers Lorylle, Carol, Cheryl, Sian, and Tom for doing an amazing job at running the auction and raising so much money for charity, and to all those who bought so generously on the night.”
