Three Cocks Matters Community Group has been awarded £24,000 from the Making the Difference Fund.

The group applied for the funding in early October and it will be used to commission a landscape architect from Reckless Orchard to design the village’s green spaces and play areas, as well as commission for an ecologist from Just Mammals to survey large parts of the community.

A spokesperson for Three Cocks Matters Community Group said: “We’re overjoyed to share that Three Cocks Matters Community Group has been awarded £24,000 (£14k this year and £10k next year once confirmed) from the Making the Difference Fund!

“This is more than just funding; it’s an opportunity to transform our community. This work will be a game changer for our community and its future.”

The group say the funding will make the village’s green spaces and play areas more inclusive, safe, and enjoyable for everyone as well as understanding the biodiversity across the community.

A drop in session on Saturday, December 2, between 12 midday and 4pm, at Gwernyfed Walled Gardens, has been organised to gather the community’s views regarding what they wish to see in the design. This is also supported by the group’s questionnaire: https://forms.office.com/r/nZ9LXBW0SL

There will be a second follow-up event to finalise ideas on Wednesday, January 24 2024, before the final plan is created and then shared.

They are aiming to have all planning elements of the project completed by the end of March 2024.

The ecology work will take 12 months to complete and will be focusing on set species and locations across the community.
