A play area in Brecon was officially opened on Tuesday, September 24, following improvements made by the town council.

Councillors Matthew Dorrance and David Meredith were joined by Llanfaes School pupils to cut the ribbon and cake at Newton Green Park in Llanfaes.

New and upgraded play equipment has been installed at the park following a consultation exercise, which the pupils of Llanfaes School were involved in.

Mayor of Brecon, Cllr John Powell, was also in attendance. Speaking about the park, he said: “Newton Green Park in Llanfaes has always been a cherished space for our community, and this collaboration between the council and local schools regarding these improvements marks a significant step in enhancing its value for our residents.

“I am proud to see the positive impact this project will have on children’s play experiences and the overall enjoyment of the park.”

Cllr Meredith said: “It has been fantastic to have been involved with the upgrades to play equipment at Newton Green Park project, which has been funded by Brecon Town Council, following a request in to Brecon Town Council for new equipment to be placed there.”

“Thank you to the pupils of Llanfaes School who were involved with the consultation exercise on what items to be included in the project,” he added.
