Actor, Chris Rankin, best known for his role as Percy Weasley in the Harry Potter film series, switched on Brecon's Christmas lights this evening (Saturday, November 18).

Rankin got the crowd involved with a ten second countdown that ended in a shout of "Lumos!", a spell from the Harry Potter series that creates light.

The switching on of the lights rounded off the Town Council's Brecon with Bells On event, which saw festive shopping and entertainment on the streets throughout the day.

A parade took place before the event and a Santa’s Grotto at the Market Hall Vaults took place.

There was a children’s magic show at the Guildhall, as well as arts and crafts sessions and face painting at y Gaer. Stalls in the street were selling festive items and delicious refreshments.
