Hay St Mary's Church have put in place their final plans for the church to become more flexible and accessible to the community.
Their plans include removing the old wooden pews and replacing them with more comfortable, stackable chairs. This will mean they can examine under the floorboards to check the joists and timbers for rot and woodworm.
More comfortable and stackable chairs will be stored on Dollies and will allow the church to be more flexible with the layout for concerts, weddings and services. The church hope it will enable them to accommodate more people also.
To accommodate even more people, part of the church's plans is to also install a new emergency exit and a path from the exit leading to the front of the church. This will adhere to fire regulations and allow the church to welcome more people at once.
