The presentation of the proceeds of the 10th Welsh National Tractor Road Run held in Llanwrtyd Wells was held recently.
The run, which took place on Sunday, June 16 was organised by the Tractor Enthusiasts of Llanwrtyd Wells. It attracted nearly 200 entires from all over Wales and England, who descended on the smallest town in Britain for the event. The tractors toured the communities of Cefn Gorwydd, Tirabad, Llangammarch Wells, Garth, Llanafan Fawr, Beulah, Abergwesyn and back to Llanwrtyd Wells in their 400mile route.
The enthusiasts had chosen two main charities to support, which both had great significance to them - Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI) and Cancer Research Wales.
Evan Lewis, chair of the enthusiasts and route plotter, presented Liz Rees, the regional manager of RABI, with a cheque of £3,500. Unfortunately, Cancer Research Wales was unable to attend the presentation and their donation of £1,200 will be forwarded in due course.
As there was tremendous local support for the event, the committee decided to support a local charity and chose to assist the local Llanwrtyd Wells Gardening Club, who are in the process of upgrading their town displays. A valuable donation of £300 was made.
The photo shows the presentation party infront of some of the tractors that took part in the Run with Evan Lewis and Liz Rees holding the cheque whilst fellow committee members, Jim & Sandra Davies and Dai Roberts, Welsh National Tractor Road Runco-founder John Bates, Jamie Lloyd, landlord of the Belle Vue, Jean Knee, Treasurer & Tina Pritchard, town boxes organiser from the Llanwrtyd Wells Gardening Club.
The Welsh National Tractor Road Run (WNTRR) is the brainchild of vintage enthusiasts and brother and sister, John and Anne Bates of Rhayader. It has raised more than £50,000 for charities and good causes since its inception.
The Llanwrtyd Wells Tractor Enthusiasts would like to thank all sponsors, advertisers, landowners, helpers and participants for their generosity in making the event a great success.
