Last week, Brecon Football Club Juniors hosted members of the Football Association Wales (FAW) who brought along the the Women’s European Championship Trophy to celebrate Wales’ recent qualification to this summer’s tournament.

The visit allowed children, coaches and parents of the club to be up close and have pictures with the trophy.
It was part of a tour of Wales that the FAW were granted permission to do from FIFA for the women’s team qualifying for the Euros for the first time.

Brecon FC Juniors coach, Billy Brown said: “It was a fantastic opportunity to have a once in a lifetime experience for all of the children in the club. Hopefully this trophy tour and the Women’s Euros happening in Switzerland this summer will go even further to help encourage and develop girls football in Powys and across wales in the wider sense!”

Wales Women have been placed in Group D of this summer’s tournament in Switzerland and will play against France, England and Netherlands.
Their first game will take place on Saturday, July 5, at 6pm in Lucerne against Netherlands, with their second match taking place in St Gallen on Wednesday, July 9, at 9pm against France.
