TWO members of Pontfaen YFC are off to Canada.
Firstly 20-year-old Sian Healey from Builth Wells won herself a two-week trip to Canada next November at the Wales YFC International Selection Day held recently at the Royal Welsh Showground.
Sian is a third year student studying Paediatric Nursing at the University of South Wales. She will be attending the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto, which is the largest combined indoor agricultural fair in the world and goes on for 10 days. She will also be finding out more about the healthcare system in Canada.
Twenty-year-old Sioned Davies from The Pentre, Merthyr Cynog will be travelling to Canada next summer with the NFYFC International Programme. Sioned is studying Agri-Food Marketing with Business Studies at Hamper Adams and is on her year out during which she is working with Co-op as an Agri Marketing Coordinator. As part of the Agri team she works with suppliers and farmers and carries out various projects that cover education.
Sioned said: “I’m hoping to be able to see how youth organisations work in Canada and how the farmers coexist with the variety of wildlife that they have out there!”
