Ysgol y Bannau has recently been awarded the silver Siarter Iaith award.
The Siarter Iaith programme helps promote the use of Welsh beyond the classroom, to ensure that children use the language socially and within the community.
There is an elected board, the Criw Cymraeg, who meet regularly to discuss and arrange events to promote the use of language around the school.
The Criw Cymraeg have had a busy and successful year. A highlight was arranging the St David’s Day parade in Brecon - all schools in the Brecon cluster got involved in the event.
A spokesperson for the school said: “It was very special to hear such enthusiastic Welsh singing filling Bethel square.
“We look forward to next year’s parade which will be held on Monday, March 3 and hope that everyone will join us once again!”
