Ystradgynlais resident, Lynn Hobbs has received a post office long service award for 10 years as a subpostmistress.
When the village post office closed, Lynn and her husband Ted decided to set up an in-store post office at their store (Magnum Stores) in Caerphilly Borough where Lynn has been the postmistress for a decade.
She was awarded her long service award by Post Office Area Manager Ceri James for her services.
After receiving the award, Lynn and her husband Ted who have owned Magnum Stores for 40 years, have recently decided to sell the shop with Lynn deciding enough was enough at the age of 69 due to health reasons.
The couple have been married for over 50 years and have worked together for 45 of those. They moved from Bronllys to Cefn Hengoed in Caerphilly Borough in 1978 to be nearer to Ted's family.
Despite being worried about moving because she had an excellent relationship with her parents John and Doreen, who remained in Bronllys, the people in Cefn Hengoed really welcomed Lynn and Ted and they started a mobile shop in a bus in 1979.
In 1984 they converted a village hall into a small supermarket and they have been there ever since with help from their son John, who worked alongside them. But after 40 successful years of ownership, the couple decided to sell the store.
