The DG Jones Agri Ltd. Powys Lanes Rally was held in Llandovery last November and was the 10th running of the event organised by Epynt Motor Club.
The rally started from Llandovery town centre and after over 100 miles of navigating through the darkness on the classic lanes of mid Wales, the overall winners were Rob Stephens from Carmarthen, navigated by Epynt Motor Club member, Kieran Price from Caio, in a Ford Escort. They will lead the way as car one on this year’s Powys Lanes Rally, which takes place on November 11 and 12 2023.
Gerwyn Jones of DG Jones Agri Ltd, who has sponsored the event for the 10 years, said: “The Powys Lanes Rally has donated proceeds every year to support a wide range of local causes and charities.
“It is wonderful to help such a worthwhile charity this year, to benefit the people of Llandovery and surrounding areas.”
Proceeds from the 2022 Powys Lanes Rally have recently been donated to Llandovery Hospital League of Friends. Huw Rees, Chairperson, and Gina Jones, Treasurer of the League of Friends, attended the Epynt Motor Club annual dinner and awards presentation at the Castle Hotel last weekend to receive a cheque for £3000.
This brings the total that the Powys Lanes Rally has donated over the past ten years to a staggering £16,420.
Clerk of the course, Jamie Pickup, said: “On behalf of Epynt Motor Club, I would like to thank all residents of Llandovery and along the route for their co-operation in the running of the rally, helping us to make such a significant donation from the event.”
