Young Welsh rider Evie-Rose Jones made a name for herself recently by dominating a showjumping event held at Summerhouse, Gloucestershire.

The 11-year-old, originally from Llangorse, but now residing near Oxford, rode her 16.2, 11-year-old warmblood/Irish Sport House (named Maximus) to victory.

Young Evie-Rose claimed victory in both the KBIS British Equestrian 90 and 100 classes, and qualified for the national championships in the process.

Maximus is owned by Evie-Rose’s stepfather Aaron.

It was clear that all of Evie-Rose’s hard work and winter training had paid off as she delivered two speedy, foot-perfect rounds.

Her grandfather, Mike Tunnicliffe, who runs a sponsorship night for Evie at the Castle Inn, Llangorse called “Go Evie” couldn’t have been more proud of her achievement.

Evie-Rose's mother took to Facebook to express her gratitude, saying: “Thank you so much, everyone, who’s been a part of this small but mighty journey so far!”

The question on everyone’s minds now is how far this little girl will go with her huge horse. Will Wales pick up on her talent? At just 11 years old, Evie-Rose is already a champion.

It’s clear that Evie-Rose has a bright future ahead of her in the world of showjumping. With her talent, dedication, and supportive family, it seems that anything is possible as she flies the flag for young Welsh riders.
