Brecon Phoenix Boxing Club is celebrating this week after one of its star competitors clinched a national title over the weekend.

Dan Pitt, 17, is a British Youth Champion, after taking the cruiserweight title at Motherwell, Scotland on Sunday, June 4.

Dan faced the older and more experienced Scottish champion on his home soil over three rounds of three minutes each.

His opponent had shown his class the day before in beating the English champion.

Dan himself showed considerable skill, as well as excellent fitness and strength throughout the bout. The judges awarded him the decision after a gruelling and entertaining match.

This is just reward for Dan’s commitment and perseverance over his years in the gym, plus amazing support from his family, including long-term sparring partner and older brother Ollie.

The whole club and all the coaches are immensely proud of Dan and they look forward to seeing where he goes next with the sport.
