BRECON Hockey Club player and Brecon High School student Beth Wood has recently represented Wales in hockey at U16 level.

Beth captained the team for two games in their recent trip to Switzerland, where they took part in a test series. The team played nine games in three days, winning them all.

Beth said of her experience: "It was amazing as the team were able to bond and were all so proud to wear the national kit."

The Brecon Hockey Club Coach said: "Beth has progressed hugely due to her hard work and natural ability.

"She has been rewarded by achieving her goals of winning the Swiss games and bagging a few goals along the way. She should be very proud of how she conducts herself as an international athlete, making the club massively proud of her."

Head of PE at Brecon High School Anna Stephens, commented: "Beth is very talented but down to earth and acts as an excellent role model for her peers and younger students. She is also a Sports Ambassador in the school and a conscientious student too."
