After hosting two tournaments recently it was now time for Cradoc Ladies to relax, have fun, play golf and thoroughly enjoy themselves.

On Monday, August 12 the Ladies met at Cradoc where the day began with a little celebration to mark Mary Rosser’s hole-in-one just a few days earlier, and then travelled by coach to Builth Wells.

Builth is one of the Ladies’ favourite courses and again on this occasion they were not disappointed - the course was in excellent condition and they received a warm welcome. They even arrived in time for a bacon butty to sustain them in the heat.

Ladies’ Captain Andy Black then announced the teams amid a good deal of banter and teasing!

As well as the highest scores, each team was given an orange ball with each player using it on consecutive holes. There was a prize for all teams who brought their orange ball in at the end. Only one team returned with their orange ball! No wonder there were boys on the course, and in the river searching for balls to sell on to Builth members - they certainly made a lot of money from Cradoc Ladies!

On a very hot day in challenging conditions, with some good scores, the team of Kathy Dobbs, Linda Williams and Dawn Goodwin were announced as winners with a terrific score of 93 points. Congratulations Ladies (and with the only orange ball!)

Nearest the pin went to Wendy Davies, the longest drive on the sixth was Janice Williams and on the 18th it was Premlata Gurung.

After a drink to cool down the Ladies sat down to a two-course meal and then the results were announced, some entertainment followed before they boarded the bus to return to Cradoc.

A very big thank you to Ladies’ Captain Andy Black for all the work and organisation she put into it to make it such a fun, enjoyable and memorable day.
