TALYBONT made the trip to Eways Harold for a friendly 35 over match and came out on top with a convincing nine wicket win.

Captain Tommy Kenchington lost the toss and the home side chose to bat. After a slow start against opening bowlers Huw Griffiths and Lewis Deacon, who both bowled their four overs for three runs it was Bont’s guest player from Glangrwyney John Parkinson who picked up the first two wickets in his three over spell of 2 for 26.

Only George Wood-Cole with 29 was looking good before he was bowled by Guy Williams (3 overs 1 for 23). Further Ewyas wickets fell as Dan Bowen (3 overs 1 for 10), Kenchington (3 overs 1 for 8), Colin Griffiths (3 overs 1 for 2) all bowled well.

Victoria James (0 for 6) and Steve Goodsell 0 for 11 also bowling well for the Bont. The final Ewyas wicket to fall went to Geraint James (1 for 1) as Bont used 11 different bowlers to dismiss nine men Ewyas for 108.

Bonts’ reply got off to a flying start as Deacon promoted from his usual number 11 role and Kenchington blazed 97 in just nine overs before he was was caught and bowled for 18.

Deacon continued the onslaught as he struck three maximums and 10 boundaries in his superb 71 not out as himself and Colin Griffiths (six not out) reached the target in just the 12 over to see Bont to victory.

Despite seeing their last two league games cancelled due to the weather Talybont still managed to claim the division four league title and would like to thank everyone involved on and off the field for a superb first season in league cricket since 1990.

The club also wish to thank its all its sponsors for their continued support.
