Builth Wells were frustrated on Saturday when their scheduled home match against Ross-on-Wye in the GB Liners Marches first division was cancelled with Ross conceding the game.

It means Builth receive 20 points and maintain top spot with four games remaining as they chase their first league title since 1994.

Builth captain, Dylan McPhee had plenty of cricket himself last week as he made three further appearances for Wales Over 40s in wins against Ireland by 114 runs and Scotland by eight wickets before a 10-wicket defeat at the hands of England Seniors. McPhee opened the bowling in all three games taking 2-29 against Scotland in nine overs. He was wicketless in the other games but bowled tidy spells of 0-16 in six overs against Ireland and 0-24 in five overs in the England defeat.

Builth Wells 2nds made it three wins in a row in the GB Liners Marches second division with a comfortable eight-wicket victory at Knighton-on-Teme.

With their first team without a game, Builth included Tumelow Yeki in the line-up and he took 4-4 in 5-1 overs as Knighton were bowled out for 84. Mark Stafford-Tolley (3-7) and Ian Morgan (3-14) took the other wickets. Builth reached their total for the loss of two wickets in 16 overs with Dai Davies finishing on 38 not out while Steff Towns made 27.

Hay continued their march towards Divison One with a five-wicket win in another low scoring game against local rivals, Moccas who opted to bat first. Hay opening bowlers, Mark Burgess (1-8) and Huw Griffiths (1-16) were difficult to get away before Gareth Grant and Gabriel Moore ripped through their line-up. Moore took 5-21 and Grant 3-16 as Moccas were all out for 63 in 30 overs with Tom Price topscoring with 25.

In reply Hay too found runs hard to come by but Gareth Grant (47no) carried his bat with another man of the match performance as wickets fell around him.

Elsewhere in Divison Two, Presteigne had no difficulty in scoring runs as they raced to their biggest total of the season against Woolhope 2nds. The Broadaxe side racked up 309 for 4 in their 40 overs with Will Bartholomew (30) and Joey Jones (54) getting them off to a good start. Mark Ammonds hit 79 and Ben Amos (48no) and Alan Stocker (42no) carried on the good work. Presteigne then restricted Woolhope to 185 for 8 with Bartholomew (2-40) and Arthur Chilman (2-44), the main wicket takers, in what was only their second win of the season.
