Builth Wells continued their fine start to the GB Liners Marches league first division campaign with an impressive win on the road.

Builth notched a four wicket victory at Wormelow and sit second in the table, 8 points behind leaders, Goodrich who beat Garnons by 9 wickets in a match reduced to 20 overs.

As the previous week, Builth were excellent in the field after putting Woolhope in to bat with Paul Greenway (3-44) and Martin Hurst (3-17) picking up three wickets each on their return. Tumelo Yeki took 2-29 and captain, Dylan Mcphee 1-16 from his nine overs with Arthur Davies 1-15 finishing Wormelow off for 145.

Builth’s reply was compromised as they slipped to 28 for 3 with Sam Buckler and Tim Richards, who both failed to trouble the scorers, joining Richard Galton (10) back in the pavilion. Aled Powell (26) and Tumelo Yeki (18) steadied the ship but there was still plenty to do as they found themselves at 71 for 6. It was left to experienced pair, Dylan McPhee, batting for the first time this season, and Martin Hurst to see The Bulls home with an unbroken 75 run seven wicket partnership. McPhee hit seven fours and a six in his unbeaten 48 from 57 balls while the more patient Hurst was not out 17 from the 50 balls he faced. Tom Cutler bowled a super spell of 6-28 for Wormelow.

In Division Two, Builth Wells 2nds and Presteigne were frustrated by the weather but in-form Hay made it five wins from five with a 19 run win at Woolhope 2nds to go top of the table. Hay posted 231 for 7 with openers, Gareth Grant and Tim Masters both making 63. Dan Bown (27), Will Price (19), Huw Griffiths (18) and Rhydian Evans-Bevan (16) also contributed. Woolhope fell short in the run chase with Tim Davies  (2-26), Griffiths (1-26) and Grant (1-35) the wicket takers for Hay as the hosts closed on 212 for 4 with Matt Slocombe 122 not out.
