Penybont United prevailed in the Radnorshire derby when they defeated hosts Presteigne St Andrews 3-1 in the MMP with Norman Lloyd Central Wales League (South) at Llanandras Park.

The Polecats made an early breakthrough when Finlay Mason converted from Louis Davies' third minute corner.

The East Radnor club drew level in the 14th minute courtesy of Niall Rhodes' 25-yard free-kick that nestled in the bottom corner of the net.

But Penybont United regained the lead within 60 seconds of the restart through Isaac Price as the home team were caught cold following their celebrations.

The Polecats extended their lead midway through the first half when Louis Davies netted after the home defence failed to clear a corner following a moment of panic in the penalty area.

The Polecats were reduced to 10 players early in the second half moments later when keeper Memphis Clements was shown a red card by referee Nigel Mathias for handling the ball outside of the penalty area.

Presteigne St Andrews continued to press until the final whistle but were unable to find a way past the 10-man Polecats.

The three early goals proved enough to see the visitors record their first win of the season ad leapfrog their opponents in the early league table.
