TALYBONT sealed promotion with a convincing 250 run win over strollers with captain Dan Bowen picking up the man of the match award with a superb innings of 176 not out.
Strollers won the toss and surprisingly asked Bont to bat.
Openers Bowen and Mick Mcalister once again got Bont off to solid start with a stand of 45 before Mcalister was bowled for 14.
Richard James (28), Lewis Mallon (25), Huw Griffiths (31) and Guy Wiliams (15) all played their part in partnerships with Bowen as he reached his century. Once his century was complete Bowen blazed the bowling to all parts as his mammoth innings which included 22 boundaries and eight maximums, saw Bont end their 40 overs on a huge 324 for 6.
Strollers reply was soon in disarray as Griffiths picked up four early wickets to leave the home side on 29 for 4. Griffiths’ opening new ball partner Lewis Deacon (10 overs 3 maidens 2 for 28) then picked up two wickets before Griffiths picked up his fifth with a diving catch by Richard Davies to end with figures of 10 overs 2 maidens 5 for 26.
Colin Grifftihs and Richard Davies then replaced the openers and both bowled well with Griffiths picking up three quick wickets in a spell of 3 for 8 off two overs as Strollers subsided to just 74 all out and Bont picking up the maximum 25 points.
The win leaves Bont needing eight points from their last two games to win the league. This Saturday sees Bont at home to Kington 2nds.
