Brecon Corries turned on the style to move to the summit of the Floodlighting and Electrical Ardal South East table following a 6-1 victory over Blaenavon Blues at a damp Rich Field on Saturday afternoon.

It was, however, the visitors who broke the deadlock in the ninth minute after Ben Williams ran on to a through ball to round Brecon Corries goalkeeper Steve Price and find the back of the net at the third attempt. This was despite the best efforts of Jack Bain, who had blocked two close-range efforts on the goal line.

The Corries were back on level terms though in the 12th minute when a Corey Evans 25-yard free-kick found the top corner.

Luke Roughley struck the crossbar from 25 yards just four minutes later before his team eventually went ahead after 22 minutes. Summer signing Jack Biggs flicked-up a low cross from the right, delivered by Paul Keddle, before turning and firing a stunning volley past Dominic Bath that gave the Blues keeper no chance to keep out.

Damien Daniels' men extended their lead on the stroke of half-time when Matty Tong cut inside from out on the right to fire inside the near post.

The second half saw chances at both ends before the Corries added three goals in the final 10 minutes of the match to provide some gloss to the scoreline

Veteran forward Keddle was on hand to find the back of the net from close-range in the 82nd minute.

Craig Evans then added a poacher's goal in the 87th minute.

The scoring was completed three minutes later when brother Joel was on hand to add his name to the scoresheet when he converted a low cross from the right, after the Rich Field club took advantage of their tiring opponents with a quickly-taken free-kick.
