HAY St Marys enjoyed their day at the seaside as they became the first team through to the quarter finals of the Central Wales Challenge Cup with a 2-1 win at Aberystwyth University.
In a game of very few chances, Steve Morgan emerged as Hay’s match winner with a first half brace. Josh Orton had given the University side the lead on 12 minutes but Morgan levelled soon after when he cutting in from the left and Morgan repeated the feat minutes later which was enough to see Hay through.
The Saints will now be at home against Cardigan Town or Kerry in the quarter finals.
In the Spar Mid Wales League first division, Knighton Town maintained top spot after a own goal earned The Robins a 1-0 home win against Bow Street.
Llandrindod Wells went down 2-1 at home to Llanrhaeadr despite Johnny Williams putting them ahead from the penalty spot. Kieran Evans levelled before half-time and then took the free-kick from which Endaf Owens headed the second half winner.
