Radnor Valley were beaten 3-1 on Saturday afternoon by newly-promoted Kerry in the Lock Stock Ardal North East at Dolforgan Park.
The opening stages were relatively cautious and did not provide too many clear goalscoring opportunities apart from Kerry skipper Matt Mumford firing a low shot across the face of goal in the seventh minute.
But it was the visitors who broke the deadlock in the 21st minute when Charlie Beaumont found the back of the net from close-range after Kerry goalkeeper Ryan Andrew was unable to hold on to Joey Price's low 21st-minute free-kick from just outside the penalty area.
This goal appeared to wake-up the Lambs as Elliot Jones headed a cross from the right narrowly wide of the far post within 60 seconds of the restart.
Kerry were back on level terms in the 25th minute after Matt Mumford swept home the loose ball after the Radnor Valley defence was unable to clear a cross from the right flank.
Kerry had the opportunity to take the lead after 43 minutes but Radnor Valley goalkeeper Tom Lewis atoned for conceding a penalty when he saved from Neil Mitchell.
The Radnor Valley management team of Trevor Gummer and Roy Simcock would have been pleased by the way their players started the match but well aware that Kerry were a strong outfit and would asks plenty more questions after the interval.
The Lambs went ahead early in the second half after Luke Mumford took advantage of some hesitancy in the Goats' defence after being set-up by Elliot Jones.
The New Radnor men looked to respond immediately when Joey Prive drove into the penalty area in the 48th minute and saw his near post effort saved by Andrew.
Matt Mumford looked to double his tally three minutes later but was unable to keep his show on target before Callum Matthews fired over at the opposite end of the pitch in the 53rd minute.
Matt Mumford thought he had headed home a second goal from a free-kick soon afterwards but it was denied by an offside flag.
Callum Matthews went close to equalising for Radnor in the 69th minute but his shot rebounded off the crossbar from a tight angle in the 69th minute before Elliot Jones' header could only find the gloves of Lewis from a Rob Harvey through ball five minutes later.
The New Radnor men were reduced to 10 players in the 76th minute after former Rhayader Town midfielder Jack Clarke was shown his second yellow card of the afternoon by referee Ross Mantle.
The hosts then secured the points a few minutes later when Matt Mumford was allowed the time and space to drive forward, before striking a rasping 25-yard shot that nestled into the bottom corner of Lewis' goal.
Kerry looked to add a fourth goal but Ryan Biggs's 25-yard drive was saved before Joey Price struck a stoppage-time free-kick into the defensive wall as the Goats were left to reflect upon what might have been.
