Knighton Town put themselves in good heart for this week-ends Spar Mid Wales League first division top of the table clash with Penrhyncoch.
The Robins hit the goal trail with an 8-0 thrashing of Machynlleth at Bryn-y-Castell. Connor Bird helped himself to no fewer than five of the goals with Mark Jones, Robbie Steele and Adam Farmer completing the tally.
Knighton hold a one point lead over Penrhyncoch who have two games in hand. But Penrhyn refuse to be shaken off as they edged a 1-0 win at Llanrhaeadr with Arron Lemon netting in the second half.
Carno are third after two goals from peter Rees secured a 2-0 win against Llandrindod Wells.
