PENYBONT were the only local team in the Spar Mid Wales League second division to pick up a point at the week-end following a goalless draw at home against Four Crosses.
It was a frustrating afternoon for the Racecourse side who had plenty of chances and even missed a penalty as Jake Bufton’s effort was saved as their search for that elusive first win goes on.
Former leaders, Builth Wells were away at Borth United and The Seasiders showed why they are now top with a 4-0 win. First half goals from ben Jones and Liam Lewis saw Borth ahead at the break with Gareth Kelasall-Hughes and Ryan Davies (pen) on target in the second half.
Newbridge scored five time at Dolgellau but returned home empty handed as the hosts scored six themselves in one of the games of the season. Newbridge were two down but Alfie Stonefield headed one back and Aeron Powell scored from the penalty spot to make it 2-2 at half-time.
The Villagers fell behind again but Ryan Lawrence and Ashley Beach struck as the lead again changed hands. But Newbridge conceded three poor goals from their point of view meaning Adrianp Giralami’s last minute strike was no more than a consolation as it finished 6-5 to Dolgellau whose Dominic Thomas bagged a hat-trick.
Presteigne slipped to a 3-0 defeat at Kerry where Luke Mumford (2) and mark Hughes shared the home side’s goals.
